Diploma in Computing (L4DC) – 1st Year

About

As an Ofqual-regulated UK awarding body with a global presence, NCC Education offers the Level 4 Diploma in Computing, which forms the first year of a degree pathway. This qualification bridges academic theory with practical industry applications, giving students a strong foundation for further study.

Throughout the programme, students develop essential thinking and study skills, specifically within the computing domain. Consequently, graduates gain a deep understanding of the computing industry and can confidently apply technical expertise across various business functions.

Moreover, the programme covers multiple aspects of computing. Networking modules explore designs, protocols, and security considerations. Software development focuses on HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for web applications, while object-oriented concepts and languages support desktop development. Finally, modules on Databases and Computer Systems complete a holistic review of the computing domain, ensuring students are well-prepared for advanced study or professional roles.

Overall, the NCC Education Diploma in Computing offers an excellent opportunity to develop a strong foundation in Computing and provides an academic level equivalent to the first year of a three-year UK Honours degree.

The three-year degree framework of study includes;
  • First year: NCC Diploma in Computing (MQF Level 5)
  • Second year: BSc (Hons) Computer Science – 2nd Year of the Degree (MQF Level 5)
  • Third year: BSc (Hons) Computer Science – 3rd Year of the Degree (MQF Level 6)

OR

  • First year: NCC Diploma in Computing (MQF Level 5)
  • Second year: BSc (Hons) Cybersecurity – 2nd Year of the Degree (MQF Level 5)
  • Third year: BSc (Hons) Cybersecurity – 3rd Year of the Degree (MQF Level 6)
