Award in the ADHD Adult Coaching Approach

About

Accreditation Category: Higher Education Course/Programme

The course is suitable for various professionals, including educators, special needs staff, human resource managers, sports coaches, nurses and mental health staff, social workers and counsellors. The ADHD Adult Coaching Approach builds a ‘coach’ skills set consisting of: effective and supportive communication strategies, situation analysis and identification of strengths and challenges. It then offers methods and models for productive collaboration with an ADHD adult (or any individual).

Minimum Level 4 and relevant work experience

  • Types of Coaching and Research (1 ECTS)
  • Communicating with a Client with ADHD (1 ECTS)
  • ADHD Coaching Skills, Models, Tools and Strategies (1 ECTS)
  • ADHD Coaching Approach (1 ECTS)

Description: Improve their listening skills in a coach – client context; improve their questioning skills in a coach – client context; improve their collaborative communication style in a coach – client context; self-reflect on their communication skills in a coach – client context; suggest cooperative problem-solving strategies in a coach – client context; articulate positive and negative obstacles in a neutral manner in a coach – client context; initiate, maintain and terminate a coach – client relationship.

Description: Understand the terminology and characteristics of the ADHD profile; understand the historical background of ADHD in the local and international context; engage effective collaborative communication styles for listening, questioning and problem analysis with an ADHD adult as a coach; understand analytical concepts thinking skills to an interpersonal communication context between coach and client; develop situation analysis evaluation skills and articulate cooperative problem-solving options for a coach- client context; initiate, maintain and terminate a client – coach relationship.
